Iphone

I dig the new Iphone4

Accuterra app map overview of the Diablo/Ross lake trip. Zoom in to see our trip path(we didn't actually paddle across the land towards the beginning there, I closed out of the app by accident for that stretch) For the interactive map, including iphone photos along the way,

Neighborhood summer nights

Tumwater has "Screen on the Green" on August Friday nights. They put up a giant blow up screen and play family friendly movies. Last nights showing was Blindside. We loaded up the bikes and neighbors.

Pelligrinos has a summer special from 4 to 6PM - 9.99 includes soup/salad/dinner/dessert and it's right on the way, so we made that part of last nights outing

Stopped for dinner

Got there a bit early, so the kids played some Danish Rounders to kill time

Thursday happenings

My buddy Lee was passing through on his way up from California to see relatives and we got to hang out with him for a day. We tried to give him a well rounded taste of our most excellent town.

First up, mountain biking in Cap Forest

Ready to roll(photocredit Lee for a lot of these)

Scenes

My sweet sweet wife had previous commitments, so she skipped the ride but she's never far from my mind. Picked her some flowers and stuffed them in my camelback for the ride back down. Turns out daisies smell like dirty feet, but it's the thought that counts?

Got home and showed Lee how to make some mean fish tacos. He showed us how to cook up some cedar plank smoked salmon. Definitely a fair trade.

He's a talented guitar player so we made him play until his fingers couldn't take it anymore

The afternoons get hot around here so we headed to Ward lake, which is a handy 30 seconds away, lounged around and escaped the afternoon heat.

Refreshed, it was time to get on the bikes and head downtown for dinner

Explored a few different options and decided on Italian food. Mercatos down on the waterfront fits the bill nicely.

A pleasant evening on the boardwalk

We thought about adding Lakefair to the day, but it was generally agreed that it was bedtime.

Unfortunately Lee had to leave in the morning, so we had to cut many items off the to do list but will get them done next time he's up.

Mt Ellinor July 9, 2010 last post

Starting down the southwest side. Considerably less snow this way(for a bit anyway)

Addie waiting for everybody to catch up

Ran into heavy snow again, skirting around the SW side

Spread out

This is where I wished for my snowboard. Next time.

The only bummer of the day was Becky fell on a steep snow patch and couldn't stop herself from sliding. Ran into a tree and banged up her leg badly. The really unfortunate thing was that this happened close to the top, so she had to go quite a ways that way. Some would have complained mightily in this situation, but being from the A-Team, she refused to be a baby about it and we made our descent. I'm hoping to get a picture of the damage today..

Olympia Air Show

Just got back from the Oly Air Show. It's no Blue Angels, but we like it better- no crowds, small hometown airport and just a few minutes away from the house.

That's all nice, but we still prefer our neighbors runway and plane. Especially since we get to participate in loops, hammerheads etc instead of just watching from the ground(from this past summer)..

Then there's the only real reason I like airshows, to watch these things move. Hopefully our neighbor will pick up one of these soon.
